About

Hi, I'm Rosa.

๐Ÿ‘‹

TravelCalcs is a small, one-person travel site โ€” and I'm the person. No big team, no agency, no AI churning out a thousand identical pages. Just me, the guides and tools I actually use, and a strong dislike of two things: overspending on a trip, and travel advice that says nothing.

By day I run a couple of small food shops in Australia. Hospitality teaches you two things fast โ€” how to budget tightly, and how much the little extras quietly add up. I bring the same eye to travel. When I plan a trip, it's usually around good food, a beach to switch off on, and not coming home to a credit-card surprise.

I started TravelCalcs because every "travel tips" page I read felt the same: long, vague, and weirdly afraid to give a straight answer. I wanted the opposite โ€” honest guides that tell you the trade-offs, and simple tools that do the boring maths so you can get on with the fun part.

Honest guides that tell you the trade-offs, and tools that do the boring maths.

What you'll find here

Two things, woven together. Guides โ€” to budgeting a trip, the best beaches and treks, where to eat, where to stay โ€” written to be useful, not padded. And free tools โ€” budget calculators, packing lists, converters โ€” built right into the guides so you can plan as you read. Everything is free, with no sign-up and no wall.

How I write these guides

Where I've been somewhere myself, I tell you what it was really like. Where I haven't, I say so โ€” and I research carefully, cross-check recent traveller reports, and link to official sources rather than pretending. Prices and conditions change constantly, so I'll always nudge you to check current details before you book. I'd rather be honest and useful than sound like I've personally been everywhere.

A note on how this stays free: some links here are affiliate links โ€” if you book through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The site also shows ads. Neither ever changes what I recommend; the honest take comes first.

TravelCalcs is independent and based in Australia. Tools and guides are for general information and planning, not professional financial, legal, medical or travel advice โ€” always check current, official sources for important decisions.
